This is my dark green 1997 1.9 Z3 (or what Bill Spornitz likes to say "…use to be a Z3…"). From its humble beginnings it has been transformed into a "sleeper" of self imposed modifications.
I started with the brakes. The front rotors are now ventilated (as opposed to solid disks), they all have been gas slotted and cryogenically treated both front and rear. I use stainless steel Goodridge brake lines, ATE "Super Blue" and the pads are Porterfield R-4S (R-4 for the track). I also have solid brass caliber guides to get even pad wear/use.
The suspension has Racing Dynamics adjustable front and rear sway bars, Ground Control front sway bar links, Dinan rear sway bar re-enforcement, RTRS polyurethane offset lower control arm bushings, M3 control arms, Koni Sport adjustable struts/shocks, Ground Control adjustable caster/camber plates, Ireland Engineering adjustable rear toe/camber kit with Ireland Engineering urethane trailing arm bushings and Ireland Engineering urethane rear sub-frame bushings. Ground Control adjustable coil-over kits for both the front and the rear spring perches using Eibach racing springs. A HMS strut brace finishes off the package.
The drive train features a Quaife automatic torque biasing differential, a Powerflex urethane (yellow) differential/frame bushing, an AutoSolutions short shift kit and a 240mm aluminum flywheel with a Sach 240mm solid hub, semi-metallic clutch disk and a Sach 240mm M3 "Sport" pressure plate.
The engine features a Supersprint exhaust, a high flow catalytic converter, a "custom" Technique Tuning Stage III ECU with oversized injectors, oversized mass air flow sensor and an oversized throttle body. A BEGI supercharger with a +3 psi pulley (for a total of 10 psi) and intercooler give the car a "little" punch.
For "extras" I have a Stewart Warner 0-30 HG/ 0-15 PSI boost gage, a SplitSecond ARM1 air/fuel ratio gauge and a Bosk wood trim kit. A HMS windscreen keeps the wind down. Sparco Roadster seats help keep me in place. A BMW remote keyless alarm with a single zone perimeter sensor keeps the bad guys away.
For safety I have a HMS SportBar (roll bar) and a HMS HarnessBar that has been modified to hold a fire extinguisher. I use a Simpson 6-point 3" harness.
Lastly I have two sets of wheels, Racing Dynamics RGS 17x8 for the street and TSW Hockenheim R 17x8 for the track. My preferred street tires are BFGoodrich g-Force Sport 235/40ZR17's and for the track Toyo Proxes RA-1 235/40ZR17's.
I have done almost all the work myself. I drive this thing everyday and I teach in it at the track. If the sun even THINKS about being out the top is down!

A "New" Track Toy!
I have "retired" the Z3 to garage queen and taken up with a "new" track car, a 1997 318ti! As you would expect, it's not stock or even close. First there is the S50 under the hood, a striped interior with a roll bar, Recaro SRD's, harnesses and a fire extinguisher just to start with...

The Formula Vee...
OK, I was into real racing, starting in a 1979 Zink Z-18 Formula Vee, then upgrading to a 1990 Tsunami FV. I held an International Conference of Sports Car Clubs (ICSCC) "Senior" license. I was a part of KAHN Team Racing and ran under association with the BMW CCA Club, Puget Sound Region. I had to give it up due to cost but I am still active in racing, coaching and crewing as needed.

The Cheetah SR1...
I'm back into racing....with a 1998 Cheetah SR1 D Sport Racer (DSR) powered by a 2006 GSX-R1000. It has an AIM MXL dash, Momo wheel, Quaife automatic torque biasing differential, Jongbloed wheels, Hurley Racing Products carbon fiber wing (8-3/8" cord with carbon fiber end plates), Sprocket Specialists split drive sprockets, Penske adjustable shocks and Wilwood Dynalites brakes. I'll race it in International Conference of Sports Car Clubs (ICSCC) as a FSR some time soon....
