Kitchen Re-Model

10/03/05

This is the kitchen just prior to the re-model.

The re-model has started, notice the sliding glass door has been walled in.

This shot is looking in from the hall, entrance.

The deck is gone and 6 trees were removed.

Some of the logs left from the tree removal.

Damion starts to dig the new foundation.

The footings and steel are in place.

The hole is pretty deep, about 6'.

The first pour for the new footings

All in place.

Forms for the concrete wall.

Notice the hole near the latter, on the right, that was used to pour the pad under the house.

The cement was pumped in, over the house into the forms.

All poured and ready to set.

This space has become the "new" wine cellar.

This is the pad under the house for the new wall support.

Pony wall and sub floor for the new kitchen.

Sub floor all in place and the old kitchen extension is about 1/2 removed.

Starting the new walls.  Notice snow on the roof and ground.

More framing.

Looking back toward the house.  The hall on the left is blocked with wall board and the door on the right is blocked too.  At this point the roof is gone.

Looking back at the new section.  No roof but the walls are up.

Looking up toward the ceiling.  The other side of the tarp is the existing roof.

The support post in place.

Just after the new roof was put on.  The whole house got a new ceder shake roof.

French doors and a garden window in.  The doors have blinds built inside of them, between the two sheets of glass.

Looking at it head on.  Notice the window to the right, it will be replaced by another French door.

All boxed in, now we can turn the heat back on.

Insulating the ceiling.

The door between the Dining room and the kitchen is still blocked.

Pluming for the bar sink in the wine station.

The entrance to the kitchen and our old light.

Same view but more into the kitchen.

Starting the wall board.

Pretty well boxed in.

All of the wall board is up.

Paint and cabinets are in.  Tile floor is done and appliances are installed.

Looking back towards the entrance.  The boxed ceiling looks pretty good.

The island is in but not topped yet.

The stove and Microwave.

The island and counter tops with concrete board installed.

The dining room walkway is open.  The back box is the wine cooler for the wine station.

The entrance from the front door.  The thermostat is for the heated tile floor.  New closet door and new hall light.

Looking into the kitchen, counter tops are in and we have new bar stools.  You can see the deck through the doors.

Granite counter tops and beaded halogen lights over the island and over the sink.  Cinnamon is caught "lurking" on the right (no she does NOT have glowing gold eyes).

Looking back toward the wine station.  Two door wine cooler and bar sink.  The wine cooler holds 36 bottles and the rack holds 24.  Lori's fish likes his new home.

Under the house the racks can hold almost 100 bottles.  Plenty of space for more racks and cases.

Notice the second level of the island, its black granite, not the same as the rest of the counter tops.

The black granite, looking back the other way.

The new French doors in the dining room.

The same doors from the deck side.

The new deck is Trex with a ceder trellis and wrap.  The wrap will get painted house color and the trim will be green like the rest of the house.
